Ryan Qualter urges Tadcaster Albion to strive for consistency following bounce-back win over Barton Town
Ryan Qualter urged his Tadcaster Albion players to find some consistency in their approach to games following Saturday’s impressive 1-0 success at high-flying Barton Town Old Boys.
The Brewers boss slammed his side in the wake of their dismal showing at Penistone Church last time out, and even went as far as to question their mentality and desire.

But Qualter’s charges responded with a much-improved display, and having worked hard to keep their promotion-chasing hosts at bay for 88 minutes, they snatched all three points courtesy of Noah Kiwomya’s stunning late strike.
Albion’s manager was quick to praise his troops for bouncing back in such a fashion, but has now challenged them to hit that same level of performance more regularly.
“It had been a tough week,” Qualter said. “So I am just pleased for the boys.
“The two games before Penistone we had picked up back-to-back wins and you feel like you’ve turned a bit of a corner.
“But then I was left disappointed by the lack of desire and the mentality. As I have said previously, I always know that the lads are going to turn up when we come to places like Barton.
“But we have got to take the same mentality into every game. We need to be doing that from game one all the way through until the end of the season.”
Substitute Kiwomya settled matters with just a couple of minutes of the regulation 90 remaining when he picked up the ball in a central position almost 30 yards out and sent a fine effort into the top corner.
“Noah came on and caused Barton problems,” Qualter added. “He picked up pockets of space and their centre-halves didn’t know whether to come with him.
“He has got near the box and he’s had a shot. And, as we have spoken about, if you don’t shoot you don’t score.
“It’s an unbelievable strike. To beat a goalkeeper as good as Cracknell, who has played a very very good level, from that distance is just unbelievable.”
Saturday’s victory kept 18th-placed Albion out of the NCEL Premier Division relegation zone and saw them close the gap to the two sides directly above them in the table to one point.
