Conducted by John Dunford with Soloists Jonty Ward baritone, Julianne Young mezzo soprano and Milly Lennox soprano and Orchestra D’Amici, the event will take place on Saturday, November 14 at 7.30 pm at Ripon Cathedral.

Ripon Choral Society was re-formed shortly after World War II in 1954 and has grown to become one of Yorkshire's largest and most prominent community choirs.

A thriving, mixed choir that performs usually four concerts per year in the glorious surroundings of Ripon Cathedral, under conductor Philip Miles (1980–1997), the choir grew substantially to around 160 singers across his 17-year tenure, cementing a high reputation for large-scale classical works.

The ever popular Armed Man was commissioned by the Royal Armouries for the Millennium,.

It is a particularly relevant piece for Ripon as First World War poet Wilfrid Owen was stationed here before being sent to the front line where he died in 1918.

Guy Wilson who wrote some of the text is a nearby resident .

The Faure Requiem has been described as a “lullaby of death” and is a much-loved serene and gentle setting of the Requiem Mass.
