Motorist fined after Audi TT caught speeding at 131mph on A64 in Harrogate court case
Driver fined at Harrogate court after being caught speeding at 131mph
A motorist who was caught driving at almost twice the speed limit on a North Yorkshire dual carriageway has been fined more than £1,500 after appearing at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court.

The driver was behind the wheel of an Audi TT travelling at 131mph on the A64 at Barton-le-Willows, between York and Malton, on June 20.
The vehicle was recorded by a North Yorkshire Police safety camera vehicle at a location where the speed limit is 70mph and where there have previously been a significant number of collisions.
The motorist pleaded guilty to speeding at a hearing last week.
At Harrogate Magistrates Court, he was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £1,551 and given six penalty points.
Following the court case, North Yorkshire Police warned motorists about the dangers of excessive speed.
Richard Fletcher, from North Yorkshire Police, said: “Speed limits are set for a reason and exceeding them is illegal.
“We expect motorists to drive responsibly and resist driving at extreme speeds - the impact of doing so can be devastating.”
