“You could tell straight away that it’s a family business where people genuinely care about each other”

A hugely successful North Yorkshire food firm with ties to Harrogate which now makes around one million sausages per day is to give jobseekers the chance to join the rapidly growing brand.

Based in Kirklington near Bedale, the roots of HECK! lie in its founders, Andrew and Debbie Keeble, who live in the Harrogate area and previously founded The Harrogate Sausage Company and Debbie & Andrew's.

The award-winning, nationally-successful, family business to host its fifth recruitment event this Saturday, October 24 as demand continues to grow across its range of premium sausages, burgers, meatballs and rashers.

HECK! is creating a number of new production roles and is inviting prospective employees to its latest Factory Open Day between 10am and noon.

Jamie Keeble, HECK! co-founder, said: "Our growth means we're continuing to invest in both our people and our production facilities.

“Every time we expand, we need great people to join the business, which is why our factory open days have become such an important part of our recruitment strategy.

“It’s great that we’re attracting people like Andy, who can bring their brilliant skills to our business.”

Since launching in Yorkshire in 2013, HECK! has grown from family start-up to one of the UK's best-known premium sausage, burger and mince brands, supplying major retailers across the UK while continuing to invest in its Bedale headquarters.

The expansion comes despite continued recruitment challenges across North Yorkshire, where manufacturers face skills shortages and competition for workers in a tight labour market.

Rather than relying solely on traditional recruitment methods, HECK! has found success by opening its doors and allowing candidates to experience the business before applying.

Previous events have resulted in successful hires, including Andy Sheehan who attended an earlier recruitment day and has since joined the team.

Andy Sheehan said: “The open day was a great way to get a feel for the business before joining.

“Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and you could tell straight away that it’s a family business where people genuinely care about each other, while at the same time the working environment is fast-paced and dynamic.

“I’m from a military background and moved into manufacturing after leaving the service.

“When we moved back to North Yorkshire, I was keen to see what the company had to offer, so I went along to one of its open days and got to know the business.”

During the HECK! recruitment event, visitors can tour the factory, meet the team and interview for vacancies including Mixing Room Supervisors, Picking Team Members, Packing Team Members, and Day and Night Hygiene Team Members.
