From All Walks of Life will show all the 100-plus cards created at various workshops in Harrogate district which seek to raise more awareness of Fiona Laskaris's campaign for Christopher's Law.

Fiona’s autistic son Christopher was exploited and murdered in his home in 2016 after local services assumed he had capacity to make decisions which left him at serious risk of harm.

Despite his documented history of exploitation, abuse and self-neglect, they ignored multiple safeguarding concerns and doubts about his capacity raised by his family over many years.

Rob Knox said, "We at the Harrogate and District Branch of the National Autistic Society are passionate in supporting the campaign for Christopher's Law to be enacted as soon as possible to help safeguard and support so many vulnerable adults.

"It is so important that the Mental Capacity Assessment process is improved and made fit for purpose and to avoid the devastating impact of hate and mate crime.

"We hope that the footwear cards will continue to step across the country to raise awareness for the campaign and the issue."

From All Walks of Life exhibition is the end result of a challenge to local artists to create their own sketches, paintings, collages and mixed media art of shoes walking/marching/running/wheeling in the same direction.

Taking place daily at at St Peter's Church in Harrogate from November 2-7, From All Walks of Life exhibition will showcase various art groups in Harrogate and, also, Hampsthwaite who have been taking part in the challenge to draw as many images of footwear as possible.

Their sketches can then be used to collage and create mixed media artwork at future workshops with organisations that support and give training to adults with autism and neurodiverse conditions.

Among the local organisations taking part is the Hub at Autism Plus in Knaresborough whose learners' cards will also be on display at St Peter's Church.
