Harrogate's Lib Dem MP is to tackle the world's biggest half-marathon for Saint Michael's Hospice
Harrogate’s MP is to lace up his running shoes to take part in this weekend’s Great North Run to fundraise for Saint Michael’s Hospice.
The Lib Dem MP will tackle the half-marathon on Sunday, September, 13 having set a fundraising target of £500.
It will be keen runner Mr Gordon’s fourth consecutive Great North Run for the Harrogate hospice, following appearances in 2023, 2024 and 2025 which raised more than £1,000 for the charity
“If you’ve had a loved one receive care at Saint Michael’s Hospice, you know how good they are,” said Tom Gordon MP.

"We are so lucky to have them.
“I’m proud to bang the drum for Saint Michael’s Hospice at a national level and do the Great North Run – every penny counts.”
The Harrogate and Knaresborough MP also recently hosted a palliative care coffee morning as part of his ‘Talk with Tom’ series.
The event gave residents an opportunity to hear about his work in Parliament to increase funding for palliative care and support local hospice services.
This will be the fourth consecutive time Tom Gordon has taken part in the Great North Run in aid of Saint Michaels Hospice, having run in 2023, 2024 and 2025, raising more than £1,000 in total.
In April 2025, just days after completing the Paris Marathon, Mr Gordon achieved a personal best of 4 hours, 29 minutes, and 13 seconds in the London Marathon, raising money for Crohns & Colitis UK, which supports sufferers of inflammatory Bowel Disease.
