Great Harrogate Transport Fair to be biggest forum on future of travel in the town for years
Key leaders in transport are coming to Harrogate next week for the biggest forum in decades about what the future of travel in the town may look like.
Organised by Zero Carbon Harrogate, The Great Harrogate Transport Fair, will also offer the public the unique opportunity to hear directly about the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s new Local Transport Plan.
Taking place on Tuesday, September 22 from 5pm to 8.30pm at West Park Centre in Harrogate, organisations expected to attend include the Combined Authority team, Harrogate Bus Company, Disability Action Yorkshire, Forward York, Forwards Yorkshire and a number of councillors, local community groups and transport experts.
Representatives from Harrogate Town Council and businesses will also be in attendance.
A key moment in The Great Harrogate Transport Fair will see the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority team take part in a Q&A about the recently launched new Local Transport Plan Consultation
The plan will shape investment and transport priorities across North Yorkshire, making the event an opportunity for residents and local people to find out what is proposed and have their say on the future of transport in the area.
Sunita Soundur, Climate Action Coordinator at Zero Carbon Harrogate, said: “This is a chance for Harrogate residents to see what’s already happening and discover some of the transport and travel options available to them.
"Most importantly, have a say in what transport should look like in our town in the years ahead. We want people to come along, explore, ask questions and be part of the conversation.”
From cargo bikes and public transport to active and accessible travel, the public will be able to discover local transport options, meet organisations working to improve sustainable travel and find out more about the choices available locally.
