The new initiative at Ashville Sports Centre is designed not just to increase participation in sport and widen community access to its facilities by investing in high-quality sporting experiences for Ashville College pupils and local children, adults, schools, clubs and organisations.

The aim is to strengthen its position as one of the region's leading centres of excellence for sport and wellbeing.

But, in order to facilitate these exciting changes, Ashville Sports Centre says it has taken the difficult decision to discontinue its Sports Centre membership scheme.

It has written to its members to provide as much notice as possible.

A major part of Ashville Sports Centre’s new strategy is the launch of an exciting partnership with Harrogate School of Swimming, bringing together two organisations that share a commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy the health benefits of swimming and to develop this essential life skill.

The partnership will see Harrogate School of Swimming deliver swimming lessons and courses for children and adults at Ashville Sports Centre.

Richard Rooze from Ashville Sports Centre confirmed: "Our ambition is clear - to focus on sporting excellence and strong partnerships to ensure that our facilities continue to serve the needs of Ashville College pupils and local people for many years to come.

"We are particularly delighted to be partnering with Harrogate School of Swimming.

“As one of the most established and respected swim schools in Harrogate, they share our commitment to quality, inclusivity and building confidence in the water.

“Together, we will be able to provide an outstanding swimming experience for children and adults alike."

Louise Aikman from Harrogate School of Swimming said: "We are thrilled to be partnering with Ashville Sports Centre.

“Its facilities provide an excellent environment for teaching swimmers of all ages and abilities, and this partnership will allow us to further expand opportunities for children, families and adults across the Harrogate District.”

With continued investment as part of the wider Ashville Campus Masterplan, growing participation and a focus on community engagement, Ashville Sports Centre says it is committed to supporting the next generation of sporting excellence while remaining a valued resource for the wider Harrogate area.
