175th anniversary of Harrogate village school whose history began in a 1769 Sunday school

A Harrogate village school is celebrating its 175th anniversary by opening up some of its rarest archives to parents.

North Rigton CE Primary School welcomed families and members of the local community this week as it unveiled a fascinating display of archive documents showcasing its rich history to mark this important milestone.

Originally established in a building that began life as a Sunday School, the school's heritage is now prominently featured along its newly-refurbished internal corridors.

The display offers pupils, families and visitors a unique opportunity to explore and learn about the school's remarkable journey through the generations.

To mark the occasion, families and the wider school community were invited to a special event on the first day of the new term.

Guests enjoyed refreshments and a celebratory cake while reflecting on the school's history and its continuing role at the heart of the community.

Families with children due to start primary school in September are now being warmly encouraged to visit the school.

Personalised tours with Headteacher, Mrs Sophia Gardiner, are available, providing an opportunity to meet staff, explore the school environment and discover what makes North Rigton CE Primary School a special place to learn and grow.
