New farm shop and cafe opens near Wetherby offering locally sourced produce and food served all day

A new farm shop and cafe has opened its doors near Wetherby, offering shoppers fresh produce, locally sourced goods and food served throughout the day.

Shires Farm Shop has opened on Smiddy Hill in Walton, just outside Wetherby.

The business combines a farm shop with a cafe serving hot and cold food, coffee and cakes, giving visitors the opportunity to shop for food or stop for a bite to eat.

Inside the shop, customers can browse a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, alongside a deli counter, baked goods, pies and other produce.

The shop also stocks a selection of local products, larder essentials and drinks, with a focus on bringing together quality food and products from Yorkshire producers.

The business is also encouraging local growers and makers to get in touch if they are interested in supplying products to the shop.

A spokesperson for Shires Farm Shop said: “We’re a small, friendly team who care about good food, good service and the people who come through the door.

“If you’d like to be part of that, we’d love to hear from you.”

The cafe menu features a variety of dishes, including a full English breakfast, eggs benedict, chorizo baked eggs and wild mushrooms on toast.

Other options include sandwiches, burgers, homemade soup, loaded giant Yorkshire pudding, as well as deli salads and a selection of cakes and sweet treats.

For those looking for something lighter, the cafe also serves coffee and tea, with cream tea available alongside its other refreshments.

Shires Farm Shop aims to offer more than just a place to buy groceries, with facilities including outdoor seating and free parking for visitors.

The site also has electric vehicle charging points and step-free access, while dogs are welcome on leads.

The farm shop and cafe is open from 8am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 9am to 4pm on Sundays.

The kitchen serves food until 4pm on weekdays and Saturdays, and until 3pm on Sundays.
