The Royal Oak has been acquired by pub company Trust Inns for an undisclosed sum, with the new owners planning to invest in the long-established public house ahead of welcoming customers back.

Situated on the town's historic High Street, The Royal Oak has long been a familiar feature of Pateley Bridge, serving both local residents and visitors exploring the Nidderdale National Landscape.

Known for its traditional Yorkshire character, the pub features exposed timber beams, a cosy bar area and classic wooden furnishings.

It has long provided a welcoming setting in one of the area's most popular market towns.

The premises will close temporarily while refurbishment works are carried out.

The acquisition was completed by specialist commercial property agents Everard Cole on behalf of Trust Inns.

James Boshier, Director (North) at Everard Cole, said: "We're delighted to have completed the acquisition of The Royal Oak on behalf of Trust Inns.

“Pateley Bridge is a fantastic location, and it's encouraging to see an established operator committing to the future of a traditional Yorkshire pub.

"The licensed property market continues to present opportunities for operators looking to expand their portfolios, and we're seeing continued interest from clients actively seeking suitable sites.

"We currently have a number of fully retained clients looking to acquire similar properties across the region, so we'd be very interested to hear from pub owners who may be considering selling, or agents who have suitable opportunities available."

The refurbishment is expected to breathe new life into one of Pateley Bridge's best-known pubs, with customers set to return once the works have been completed in the New Year.

The investment is hoped to ensure The Royal Oak continues to play an important role in the town's hospitality offering for both local residents and the many visitors who come to explore Nidderdale each year.
