Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) is again stepping up its key services to support people in Wetherby and Harewood, regardless of their age, during the third pandemic lockdown.

The charity, which will act as an operational hub alongside local authorities, will work with local volunteers to help deliver food and medicine, plus carry out other important tasks to help vulnerable people cut off from the outside world.

WiSE’s Chief Operating Officer Mark Dobson, said: “We’re proud of the role we played during the initial stages of the pandemic to support people of all ages in Wetherby and surrounding villages and are now stepping up to do the same thing again.

“This time there is a huge emphasis on supporting those who are vulnerable or shielding, working alongside along local authority partners and Voluntary Action Leeds.

“The big thing we really, really want people to understand is that no one is alone– and nor should they be. We urge anyone who needs support to telephone the support helpline and we will match them to one of our volunteers who can help.”

WiSE is a registered charity organisation part funded by Leeds City Council. It provides support for the over 60s.
