Popular Harrogate Indian restaurant crowned Restaurant of the Year at prestigious national awards

A popular Indian restaurant in Harrogate has been recognised as one of the best in the country after winning a major national hospitality award.

Starbeck Tandoori has been named Restaurant of the Year at the 19th Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA) Awards 2026, beating finalists from across the North East and Yorkshire.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on Sunday, November 1, celebrating excellence within the UK's Bangladeshi hospitality industry.

Starbeck Tandoori was shortlisted alongside Babul's and Café Spice, both in Darlington, and Vadah in Stockton-on-Tees, before being announced as the regional winner.

The judging panel assessed finalists on a range of criteria, including food quality, customer service, hospitality, presentation, consistency, innovation and the overall dining experience.

The ceremony was attended by a number of high-profile guests, including His Excellency Mohammed Abdul Muhith, High Commissioner for Bangladesh to the United Kingdom, alongside MPs, peers and leading figures from the hospitality sector.

Congratulating the Harrogate restaurant on its success, BCA President Oli Khan MBE said: "Congratulations to Starbeck Tandoori on a thoroughly deserved win.

“Their achievement reflects the talent, commitment and resilience that continue to drive British Bangladeshi hospitality forward."

The Bangladesh Caterers Association Awards celebrate outstanding restaurants and individuals from across the UK while recognising the contribution the Bangladeshi hospitality sector continues to make to Britain's economy, communities and food culture.

BCA Secretary General Tipu Rahman said: "The BCA Awards have become an important annual celebration of excellence within our industry.

“The 19th Awards gave us the opportunity to recognise the achievements of our members, celebrate their contribution and inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals and entrepreneurs."

The national accolade places Starbeck Tandoori among the country's leading restaurants and marks another success for Harrogate's thriving independent food scene.
