The supermarket chain has submitted an application to Harrogate Borough Council following a virtual consultation with local residents.
The plans, part of a multi-million pound investment scheme, would see the redevelopment of the site of former Lookers car dealership on Knaresborough Road.

The new Lidl store would have a 1,263m2 sales area, an in-store bakery, customer toilets and 94 car parking spaces including disabled, parent and child spaces and rapid electric vehicle charging points.
The business invited the public to comment on the proposals via a dedicated website or by returning a feedback form which was distributed to the local community in November.
It says over 1,000 residents responded to the consultation with 87% being supportive of the plans.

“Following this extremely positive feedback, we have now submitted a planning application for the site to Harrogate Borough Council.
“We have been looking forward to bringing a new store to Harrogate for a while and we hope the council agrees this is a great location for a new supermarket to serve the local community.
We are extremely excited about the prospect of opening our first Lidl in the area and serving our fresh, quality and incredibly good value produce.”
