The shock arrival of Warburtons – the UK’s number one bakery brand - on a street best known for its jewellers, upmarket ladies clothing and Hoopers department store has led to a lot of interest in Harrogate especially as the town has been chosen to be first to host such a pop-up in Britain

The opening by Warburtons of the temporary shop coincides with the launch of the famous northern brand's new range of premium sweet treats.

Called Ellie Warburtons Cakes, the stylish cakes will be available individually on a trial basis exclusively from pop-up shops in Harrogate and Skipton.

This new brand builds on the family businesses 145-year heritage and offers eight mouth-watering flavours of sweet cakes including the wonderfully indulgent Cookie Dough with Caramel Slice and zesty Lemon with Blackberry Compote.

Jonathan Warburton, Chairman of Warburtons, says, “We are thrilled to introduce the Ellie Warburtons range of deliciously indulgent cakes. This is an exciting new venture for our family business and we are taking very much an entrepreneurial approach to how we build the brand while bringing with us the core of Warburtons ethos – quality and taste. I hope that a slice of Ellie Warburtons will become a firm favourite with families up and down the country – my slice of choice is the Espresso Brownie!”

The Harrogate pop-up opens on May 28 and the Skipton pop-up launches on June 4.

Both pop-ups will be open throughout the summer and will be followed by a national launch in June where consumers will be able to order the cakes online for delivery direct to their home.

First established in 1876 as a grocery shop in Bolton by Thomas and Ellen Warburton, Warburtons is run today by the fifth generation of the Warburton family – Jonathan, Brett and Ross.

The new cakes will be available nationally via www.elliewarburtonscakes.co.uk from June 21.
