Youngsters in Years 3–6 can join a week of free lantern-making workshops to create their very own Twelve Days of Christmas themed creation ready to shine in the Nidderdale Christmas Festival Parade on Friday 4 December.

The art sessions take place from Monday 23–Friday 27 November 5.15–6.45 pm at St Cuthbert’s Primary School, in the former Children’s Centre building.

Places are limited to just 15 children per workshop. Children must attend with a parent or carer.

The lantern parade will be a star attraction of a Dickensian themed Christmas late night shopping event in Pateley Bridge on Friday 4 December.

And it marks the start of the three-day Nidderdale Christmas festival of fun, music, markets, late night shopping and Father Christmas.

The lantern parade will start at Pateley Auction Mart at 5.15pm and travel along the High Street.

It will be followed by the Christmas tree lighting at St Cuthbert’s Church at 6pm, and carol singers, accompanied by the Summerbridge and Dacre Brass band.

There will also be a special visit from Santa on his tractor.
