The men from Mallorie Park recorded a fourth consecutive victory when they beat Robin Hood Athletic 2-1 to seal their passage through to the competition’s third round.

Second-half strikes from Louis Jarvis and Harry Washbrook proved sufficient for City to see off their top-flight rivals on home soil.

In the Premier Division, struggling Knaresborough Town Reserves moved a point clear of the relegation zone courtesy of a 1-1 draw against Wyke Wanderers.

Max Barnard popped up with his fifth goal in four matches with 78 minutes on the clock to earn the hosts a share of the spoils at Manse Lane.

Harlow Hill missed the chance to take over at the top of the table after going down 4-1 at home to leaders Beeston St Anthony.

Victory would have edged the Harrogate side one point ahead of their visitors, but they were soundly beaten in the end.

Joel Manning came off the substitutes’ bench to net second-placed Hill’s only goal of the game.

In Division One, Kirk Deighton’s winless run was extended into a fourth match as they went down 3-1 at home to lowly Horsforth St Margarets.

Haigh Broom notched for the hosts just after the hour mark, however that strike proved to be in vain.

Ten-man Boroughbridge were beaten 4-2 on the road at Wortley.

Harry Burland bagged a brace for the Aldborough Road outfit, whose cause was not aided by Ryan Bailes’ red card.

Wetherby Athletic failed to build on last weekend’s success at Huddersfield Amateur, going down 5-1 when they visited Whitkirk Wanderers in Division Two.
