Met Office issues further weather warnings as Harrogate faces snow and ice

The Met Office has issued more weather warnings for the Harrogate district today as heavy snow has hit the area.

A yellow warning for snow and rain is in place until 3pm today, and then a yellow warning for ice has been put in place from 8pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.

The Met Office says: "Further wintry showers across the north of the UK, with icy patches leading to possible hazardous travel."

Snow has fallen over the Harrogate district overnight.

Some roads and railways affected, leading to longer journey times by car, bus and train

Increased chance of injuries and accidents on icy pavements and cycle paths

A yellow warning for snow, rain and ice is in place across Harrogate.

Residents across the Harrogate district awoke to blankets of snow this morning, with many schools closed and disruption to travel across the area.
