Boston Spa to light up for Martin House Glow Together family walk
Families invited to light up Boston Spa
Families are being invited to light up Boston Spa this autumn as Martin House Children’s Hospice brings its Glow Together family walk to the village.

The event takes place on Saturday 14 November at 4.30pm, with families encouraged to dress up and glow in the dark while raising money to support children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
The evening kicks off at Stables Lane Park, which will be lit up for the occasion, with activities including a dress-up photo booth, face painting, lantern making, and fairground games. There will also be hot food available.
The walk starts with a lantern parade through the park, before families follow a circular route around the town.
They will stop at a series of glow points along the way, including the Martin House shop, where they will receive a special token to take to the hospice.
Families will then return to Stables Lane for sparklers, marshmallow toasting and special surprise entertainment.
Katy Hughes, Regional Events Fundraiser at Martin House, said: “This is a really fun, fully accessible family event, with lots of activities to enjoy on the night. But there is also a serious message – we Glow Together to show that no family has to walk through the dark alone.
“Children will collect a special message from our mascot Marty Bear to bring back to Martin House as a way of showing this to them.”
“Glow Together is an event where children really get excited about raising sponsorship, knowing they can do something to help the children who need the care of Martin House.”
Martin House cares for babies, children and young people across West, North and East Yorkshire with life-shortening conditions, as well as supporting their whole family.
Its care includes planned short breaks, symptom control and emergency care, end-of-life care and bereavement support.
It costs £10 for adults and £2.50 for children to take part in the walk, with children also encouraged to raise sponsorship ahead of the event.
Katy added: “Raising £100 means that worried parents could have a consultation with one of the specialist doctors at Martin House if their child is unwell.
“We’d also like to thank our headline sponsor Taylor Wimpey, as their support means more of the money raised on the night will go towards caring for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.”
