Coronavirus latest - Bettys says public safety is its top priority
One of Harrogate's most successful businesses has responded to the coronavirus crisis with an official statement emphasising that the "safety and health of our employees and customers is a top priority."
Bettys told the Harrogate Advertiser today that it had stepped up precautions at its famous tearooms.
And the family business which specialises in the world's best teas and coffees has now also paused "non-essential business travel abroad."
A spokesperson said: "At Bettys the safety and health of our employees and customers is always a top priority.
"In line with advice from Public Health England, we are actively promoting handwashing and hand hygiene for staff.
"We have increased regular cleaning in our Café Tea Rooms, Cookery School, Bakery and offices, and we are asking staff to be vigilant about their health, which means staying at home if they have a mild cough or low-grade fever (37.3C and above).
"We have postponed non-essential business travel abroad and within the UK.
"We will continue to adhere to the ongoing advice and guidance from Public Health England."
