Harrogate International Youth Festival has been postponed to Easter 2021.

Organisers of the Annual Harrogate International Youth Festival, ECE Travel, have taken the decision to postpone this year’s HIYF until Easter 2021.

ECE Chief Executive, Mike Clark tells us: "With the Covid-19 pandemic evolving daily it has now become obvious that for multiple reasons it would not be appropriate to operate this year’s Festival taking into account the commitments of our long haul visitors and performers attending the festival through to ensuring the wellbeing of everyone involved in the Festival – international performers and guests including our local performers, audiences and staff’s safety."

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society has announced that Springtime Live has been cancelled due to Coronavirus restrictions.

Organisers continue to follow Government advice which has led to the sad decision to cancel the event, due to be held on Saturday, March 28.

All ticket holders will be contacted, and they will be automatically refunded.

Harrogate Theatre: Theatre closed until March 31 and all shows postponed until then at least.

Vocalis's Food of Love concert on Saturday, March 21

Organisers said: "It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to advise that we have had no option but to cancel our Saturday concert, in line with the government announcement yesterday about social distancing. Hopefully this is not too late for the print run.

Ripon Live Music has cancelled its next concert.

The organiser Nick Thompson said: "This is an update that I do not relish writing, but I expect that you have been anticipating.

"Considering the Government’s recommendations on gatherings I have cancelled the Faustus concert on April 25."

The Poems, Prose and Pints literary event due to take place at North Bar in Harrogate this Wednesday was cancelled by organisers who said: "Just to confirm that regrettably we are having to cancel Poems, Prose and Pints with Matt Nicholson on Wednesday. We will keep you posted on future ones via our FB page. Take care and stay safe everyone."

PInewoods Conservation Group cancelled its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, March 19 at The Green Hut on Harlow Avenue, Harrogate.

This Wednesday night's Vinyl Sessions event about rock band REM at Starling Independent Bar Cafe Kitchen for charity Friends of Harrogate Hospital has also been postponed by its organisers.

Harrogate and Knaresborough Labour Party has announced that it is cancelling all meetings until further notice under guidance from its national party.

North Yorkshire for Europe put out a statement this morning saying: "Due to the coronavirus outbreak we’ve reluctantly decided to cancel our planned AGM and strategy meeting which was scheduled for this Saturday, March 21. We will let you know as soon as we have a new date."

Hampsthwaite Players have called off their next production, The Nativity Saga at the village's memorial hall which had been scheduled for March 26-28.

St Cecilia Orchestra has said it regrets to announce the forthcoming concert on Saturday, April 25 in Ripon Cathedral has been cancelled.

All public worship in the Church of England has now been suspended for the forseeable future.

Cinemas in the Harrogate district

Cinema chain Everyman Media Group (EMANE.L) has closed its venues, including Harrogate Everyman until further notice following the latest guidance from the government on responding to the coronavirus outbreak.

Cinema chains Odeon, Cineworld, Vue and Picturehouse are all shutting all their UK cinemas amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisers said: "Given the developing situation with the Covid-19 virus, I am writing to let you know how it is affecting events and activities at the town hall.

"We are cancelling the forthcoming films SINGIN' IN THE RAIN (18 March) and THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON (22 April), and the 4th April "Music on an April evening" concert by the GLEDHOLT MALE VOICE CHOIR.

"Our 9-piece Motown tribute evening by MADE IN MOTOR-CITY is postponed until Friday 4th September. Tickets for 28th March remain valid for the new date, or if you prefer refunds are available from where you bought the tickets.

"The sold-out concert by LINDISFARNE on 25th April is not currently being postponed, but we are in contact with the band and will let ticket-holders know if and when the situation changes."
