Wetherby set to showcase arts
Wetherby is set to put its 49th arts festival under the spotlight later this week.

Organisers say the 2026 programme, which starts on Friday October 2 to Saturday October 10, is packed with variety from music to folk events.
“Whether you’re keen to enjoy a favourite art form or try something completely new, the Festival offers something for everyone, showcasing the very best of local talent and culture,” said a spokesperson for the annual event.
Music, theatre, film, literature, poetry, workshops, arts and crafts, wine tasting and much more will feature.
Highlights of the week long festival include performances by Bad Apple Theatre with Back to the Land Girls, singing duo Mark Radcliffe and David Boardman and Wetherby Silver Band.
The festival starts with the popular wine tasting evening in St James Church Hall on Friday October 2 and ends on October 10 with Leeds Symphony Orchestra in St James Church.
The festival started in 1977 when the then vicar of Wetherby Rev Jonathan Bailey, got together 40 organisations to hold a festival of arts.
“Almost 50 years later, people still think it a splendid idea to bring the community together and attract people to our town,” added the spokesman.
“There will also be a Festival stall on Wetherby Market on October 1 where you can talk to members of the committee and book tickets.
“You can also explore the full programme and buy your tickets online on the Festival website.”
