Since vintage hi-fi expert Colin Paine set it up two years ago, Vinyl Sessions has raised thousands for Friends of Harrogate Hospital charity through its monthly events at Starling bar and cafe in Harrogate.

Even when lockdown forced it to go online, it has still managed to raise another £1,000 as it has continued to shine a light on some of the world's greatest music acts.

The next Vinyl Sessions event this Wednesday, June 17 will star former Beatle Paul McCartney's most successful solo album - Band on the Run which will be played on glorious vinyl.

Band on the Run is the third studio album by Paul McCartney & Wings and was a the multi-million selling global smash after it was released in December 1973.

It was McCartney's fifth solo album after leaving The Beatles in April 1970.

Although sales were modest initially, its commercial performance was aided by two nig hit singles – Jet and Band on the Run – such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the United Kingdom and Australia, in addition to revitalising McCartney's critical standing.

Colin Paine said: "We've put together a superb Sony 1974 age related system for this with a Sony TA1066 & ST1066 combination and spin the disc on a PS5520 turntable - the system you would have loved to play this original album on in the day!

"We run our dual platform audio stream and Zoom for the event."

Anyone wishing to join the session should visit www.vinylsessions.org for details

Since Vinyl Sessions went digital during lockdown, previous online events have included Bob Dylan's Freewheelin Bob Dylan, REM'S Automatic For The People, Simple Minds' New Gold Dream and ELO's Discovery.
