Harrogate Theatre's Open Day will be held on Saturday, September 3 from 10am-3pm and entry is free.

The grade II listed building's main auditorium will be open throughout the day for everyone to take a look at this beautiful Victorian theatre.

During the open day, visitors will be able to:

Go onstage

Go backstage

Go under the stage

Go above the stage as we showcase

Take part in backstage tours, performance workshops and surprises galore.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: "If people book in advance, they can take a look backstage on of our free theatre tours with a character from our past to see behind the scenes and learn more about our incredible history.

"It's a great chance to learn about the famous names to have trod our boards and hear about our theatre ghost, Alice!

"We’re also thrilled to welcome Levantes, one of our associate theatre companies, to the stage as they rehearse Run, Rabbit, Run to give you an exclusive preview of this incredible spectacle that will be performed Friday, September 9.

"In the Circle Bar we will be welcoming a host of local community companies who will be on hand to tell you about their next productions and how you can get involved either onstage or backstage with them"

Harrogate Theatre's open day will also offer plenty for youngsters and families to see and do.

There will be storytelling sessions in Harrogate Theatre Studio, designed for the under-fives and their families, to give a gentle introduction to the magic of theatre.

In the theatre's creative engagement space there will be Harrogate Youth Theatre taster workshops for five-sevens and eight-tens.

Parents and/or guardians will take part in these sessions too so everyone can share their creativity together.

It is recommended that visitors you pre-book for the tours and youth theatre workshops to reserve a space.
