Ryan Qualter had 'harsh words' for Tadcaster Albion players following Thackley AFC disappointment
Ryan Qualter revealed that he had “some harsh words” for his Tadcaster Albion players following their poor second-half showing against Thackley.
Beaten by Dearne & District on the opening day, the Brewers got their 2026/27 NCEL Premier Division campaign up and running with a 1-0 victory at Parkgate last Tuesday evening.

They looked on course for back-to-back wins when they took a second-minute lead through Oliver Green on Saturday afternoon, but failed to build on that fast start and were eventually pegged back by Luke Brooks’ late equaliser.
And boss Qualter did not hold back during his post-match debrief having been left thoroughly unimpressed by what he witnessed during the second half.
“I am disappointed, to be honest. There were some harsh words in the changing room after the game,” he said.
“To be fair, we started well. We started on the front foot, got the goal and controlled the game a little bit, although there wasn’t much in it.
“When you get that 1-0 lead so early on, you want to go on and capitalise on it, and we just didn’t.
“Second half, I thought that we were miles off it. We just never got going and it’s really disappointing to concede.
“It’s a point, and we’ve taken four points in a week, which normally you would be happy with, but I just think we should have had more having taken the lead so early in this game.”
Albion, who sit 12th in the Premier Division standings after three matches, are in FA Cup extra preliminary round action this Saturday when they entertain Glossop North End (3pm).
