Retirement living in Yorkshire: Downsize your home and upsize your life and join this vibrant community

When you buy an apartment in an Adlington Retirement Community, it’s about more than just moving to a new home; it is about upsizing your life in every way that matters, so you can live a happier and healthier lifestyle. It is also the opportunity to unburden yourself from the responsibilities of a family home and redirect your time and energy toward the activities and experiences that bring you the most pleasure.
Belonging to a supportive and supported community helps keep you healthier and happier for longer. Don’t just take our word for it though. A study from ProMatura International and ARCO (Associated Retirement Community Operators) has shown that people who live in integrated retirement communities are happier, healthier, and live more fulfilling lives when compared to people living on their own.
The research included nearly 3,000 residents of retirement communities, as well as more than 1,000 who were considering making the move. The joint study found that 90 per cent of retirement community residents thought they had made the move at the right time of their lives, and 6 per cent wished they had moved in sooner.
No need to step outside, just enjoy the comfort within
At Adlington Retirement Living, they take immense pride in creating communities where their homeowners have dedicated support, but also the freedom and independence to spend their quality time doing things that matter the most. With plenty going on and friendly faces around each corner, you can feel right at home and always enjoy a warm welcome.
Plus, the on-site Adlington Management Services team are there 24-7 to make your transition to a more worry-free life easy. They organise the activities calendar, book special events, arrange guest speakers and more. With a dedicated activity studio, beautiful private gardens, and a multi-use restaurant* to host parties, there is something to suit all tastes.

Jean and John, Adlington Retirement Living homeowners have a busy social life at their community. Jean said: “I’m making friends here. I do a lot myself. I go swimming, I go to Chi Ball – it’s T’ai Chi with a bit of pilates and a bit of yoga.”
John added: “Jean goes to ‘Knit and Natter’ in the homeowners’ lounge, they are always chatting away. We had a coffee morning the other day and all the new neighbours came, and she was chatting to them all too.”
Another homeowner, Bess said: “There is a big group of us that have moved in now and we all get on so well. We have a really good laugh. We all join in, and all help each other. We have all got the same mindset. It’s super.”
Another Adlington homeowner, Ann adds: “It’s good having things in the same building because in winter, the bad weather can put you off and if you don’t go out, sometimes you stop going. But if things are here, you’ve only got to pop downstairs. We spend lots of time in the coffee lounge and the homeowners’ lounge. If anybody wants to chat, they go and sit in the coffee lounge. You’re never short of somebody to talk to. I’ve never laughed so much since I came here. It’s just wonderful. We’re laughing all the time.”
