Wetherby theme park ranked number one this half term

A Wetherby family theme park has been ranked top of a national rating this half term.

Car hire specialists Indigo Car Hire compared 10 UK road-trip destinations, combining pumpkin picking, Halloween attractions, spooky history and family-friendly facilities and awarded Stockeld Park 91/100.

The road trip recommended the site, on the edge of Wetherby, for one of the UK’s largest pumpkin-picking activities, followed by a walk in their specially designed ‘Woodland Witches Trail’ just next door.

For those wanting to make a night of it, visitors can reach York in just an extra 17 miles; ready to take in one of its famous ‘Ghost Tours’ in a notoriously haunted city.

The Halloween Road Trips Index assessed 10 destinations across the UK against four equally weighted measures: pumpkin patches, Halloween events, spooky history and family-friendliness.

Each category was scored out of 25, producing a total out of 100.

Cherie Carter, Director at Indigo Car Hire, said: “Halloween can be a brilliant excuse to get the family out for a day together, but the best trips are the ones that work for everyone.

“I'd look for a mix of activities rather than trying to squeeze too much into one day, particularly with younger children.

“Check opening times before setting off, allow extra time for busy car parks and pack wellies and spare clothes if you're visiting a pumpkin patch.”
