Police are investigating a suspected arson attack at a disused care home in Harrogate.

Previously called Greenfield Court, fire crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough attended the scene on Wetherby Road yesterday, Sunday, at around 5.10pm, and found the building "well alight."

A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough attended a large two storey brick building well alight. This was a disused care home.

"Crews extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate. Police are investigating."
