Rare Beatles autographs sold for £7,500 at one of UK’s largest Antiques and Fine Art auctioneers

A rare concert ticket signed by The Beatles has sold for £7,500 in North Yorkshire after it came under the hammer.

Sold at Tennants Auctioneers, the ticket was for a concert by The Beatles at the Grosvenor Rooms in Norwich on Friday, May 17, 1963, at the height of Beatlemania.

A fourth-generation family business built on traditional values, Tennants Auctioneers has two main locations: their main head office and salerooms in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, and a regional branch office in Harrogate.

The signatures of Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison were obtained by the vendor of the ticket, when she attended the performance aged 19.

Having been right in front of the stage, she was perfectly place when the band jumped down after their set to greet fans.

Luckily, she had her ticket to hand to be signed to become a treasured memory.

Tennants’ Toys and Collectables Specialist Kegan Harrison said: “Tickets for The Beatles concerts are rare in their own right but to have one signed by all of the Fab Four and with such good provenance made the lot exceptionally rare”.

Strong prices continued throughout the sale with both traditional and more modern vintage toys and models selling well, including for Star Wars Figures.

One of the top lots was a Hornby (China) OO Gauge ‘Murdoch’ Locomotive from Thomas & Friends, which sold for £1,000.

One of the UK’s largest international Antiques and Fine Art auctioneers, Tennants holds more than 80 sales annually.
