Gary Shipton is the Editor In Chief and Regional Director of Sussex World - which comprises the pan-Sussex website with 2.4 million unique browsers per month as well as a series of quality paid-for weekly newspapers including the Chichester Observer, Worthing Herald, Hastings and Bexhill Observers, Eastbourne Herald, Sussex Express Series, Crawley Observer, Mid Sussex Times, West Sussex County Times, West Sussex Gazette, Bognor Regis Observer, Midhurst and Petworth Observer, and the Littlehampton Gazette.

Gary is also Deputy Editor In Chief of the National World group. He is a member of the industry-wide Editors' Code committee which sets journalistic standards, and he is a keen advocate of freedom of information and speech having represented the company on the NMA's legal committee for a decade.

You may have spotted him in the Sky TV series Hold The Front Page starring Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar - a light-hearted look at the world of local journalism, which Gary helped to co-ordinate.

Entirely separate from his journalistic career, he is a Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex - an unpaid role which helps celebrate the county and those who make a real difference in it.
