Chance to enjoy a literary lunch with Susie Dent as part of Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival

The Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival event will see Susie Dent as the lunchtime speaker at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate.

The renowned English lexicographer, etymologist, and media personality is the resident word expert in ‘Dictionary Corner’ on Channel 4’s Countdown and on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown hosted by Jimmy Carr.

As well as appearing on a plethora of other TV shows, Susie also writes a weekly column for the Radio Times and reviews for The Spectator.

Her latest book – Emotional Dictionary: Real Words for How You Feel from Angst to Zwodder – is the book she says she has always wanted to write.

Whether it’s the distress of a bad haircut (age-otori) or longing for the food someone else is eating (groaking), the pleasure found in other people’s happiness (confelicity) or the shock of jumping into icy water (curglaff), Susie's fascinating book has all the answers.

Part of Harrogate International Festivals, Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival has become one of the hottest tickets in the UK each year hanks to its stellar line-up of literary names in beautifully intimate settings.

It’s even been picked out as “one of the UK’s best Literary Festivals” by Harpers Bazaar and “one of the Top 3 Literary Festivals in the UK” by the Guardian.

Recent guests include Sarah Ferguson; Duchess of York; former Prime Minister David Cameron, Michael Morpurgo, Dame Jenni Murrray and Lord Melvyn Bragg.
