Whixley WI Celebrate 100 years
Whixley WI celebrates its centenary
Whixley Women's Institute is this year celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The group, which meets in Whixley Village Hall, Franks Lane, on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.15 pm, also recognised the contribution made by its long-serving members.
Whixley WI President Linda Meikle said: "As this is the year that Whixley WI is celebrating its 100th anniversary, it provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the dedicated input that several current loyal members have contributed."
The long serving members are - Sue Hastings with 38 years of dedicated support; Sue Bailey with 34 years as Secretary and the member in charge of maintaining the Whixley WI archive;
And Enid Fisher with 23 years as both Secretary and President; Jenny Hullah with 34 years as President and other offices and 60 years as a member.
Linda added: "In addition, Pauline Henley, Rose Mattocks and Pamela Nicholson have been members for over 65 years.
"All these ladies, through their commitment, have been instrumental in ensuring that the Whixley WI has continued to flourish."
The next meeting on October 6 will feature how the Magistrates Court works.
