The luxury care home has become an official donation point for the annual appeal, which provides gifts to children and young people aged 0-18 who may otherwise go without presents on Christmas Day.

Throughout November, members of the community are encouraged to donate brand new, unused and unopened toys and gifts at the home's reception.

Donations will be passed on to St George's Crypt Christmas Toy Appeal, which works with schools, churches and social workers to ensure gifts reach children and families facing severe financial hardship.

Organised by dedicated volunteers Charlie and Diane, the appeal has been supporting local families for more than 13 years and distributes thousands of gifts each year, helping to make Christmas brighter for some of the region's most vulnerable children.

The team at Wetherby Manor hopes the appeal will bring together residents, relatives and local people in the spirit of giving while making a meaningful difference to families in need.

Caroline Bryon, Home Manager, said: "Christmas is a time of kindness, community and bringing people together, and we're delighted to be supporting St George's Crypt's Toy Appeal this year.

"We know that many local families are facing difficult circumstances, and a simple gift can make a huge difference to a child's Christmas.

"We would love to see our residents, families and local community get involved and help us fill our donation boxes with toys and gifts for children of all ages."

The home is accepting donations throughout November and is asking supporters to ensure all gifts follow the appeal guidelines:

  • Brand new, unused and unopened gifts only

  • Suitable for children and young people aged 0-18 years

  • No violent imagery

  • No inappropriate language or content

Wetherby Manor hopes the initiative will not only support an important local cause but also give residents an opportunity to contribute to their community and help create special Christmas memories for families across Leeds.
