Mayor welcomes affordable homes at key Harrogate development
Mayor for York and North Yorkshire David Skaith has visited a new housing development on the edge of Harrogate.
The Mayor was hosted by Persimmon at their King Edwin Park development, one of the largest developments under construction in the Harrogate area.

Located to the west of the town on Penny Pot Lane, the development is delivering hundreds of new homes ranging from three bed semis, through to five-bed detached.

And 40 per cent of the homes across the site have been designated as Affordable housing with a mix of both affordable rent and shared ownership properties.
In addition to large areas of public open spaces, 39 purpose-built allotments have been constructed and transferred to Killinghall Parish Council.
David Skaith, Mayor for York & North Yorkshire said: "To solve our housing crisis, we have to build our way out of it. That's why seeing King Edwin Park, where 40 per cent of homes will be affordable is so encouraging.
"This development is a key piece in the puzzle as we work towards our ambitious goal of building 25,000 affordable homes across the county in the next ten years.

"Working in close partnership with Homes England, local councils, and developers, we'll deliver the right homes in the right places with the right infrastructure."
Sam Sowrey, Manging Director for Persimmon West Yorkshire said: “We were delighted to host Mayor Skaith and update him on progress on our King Edwin Park site.
“It was a great chance to brief the Mayor on our work in the region and discuss how we can help support the Mayor’s plans for new housing and wider economic growth.
“We’ve also just recently opened the new show home on the Regents View phase of the development so would encourage any homebuyers to come along and take a look at the type of homes on offer.”
