Ripon Summer Funfest change

Ripon Together’s Summer Funfest got off to a flying start on Saturday with over 120 children turning up at Hell Wath for the forest activities organised by the Skell Project and the Friends of Hell Wath.

The next event will be on Saturday August 13 at the Grammar School but the line-up for that event has changed due to the cancellation of the wheelchair rugby demonstration.

Ripon Together Board member, David Ingham, said: “It’s a shame that the wheelchair rugby teams cannot now be at our event.

“However, there will still be lots of activities to enjoy, many suitable for both able-bodied people and those with disabilities.”

The fun kicks off at 1pm and includes the climbing wall, accessible swimming for people with disabilities, kurling, boccia and large board games in addition to more traditional sports such as basketball, netball, volleyball or badminton.

The Funfest continues with free events at Studley Royal cricket ground on Monday August 15, Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18.

Events include croquet, athletics, cricket, an obstacle course, shooting, archery and a hog roast.

All events are free, though booking is needed for some.

David added: “It’s great that there has been so much interest in the events.

“The athletics sessions are now full, but there are still loads of other activities for people to try.

People need to book for some of them so they should just check out the website.”
