PREVIEW: Fair warning as Galloway Antiques head for Harrogate’s Majestic
BARGAIN Hunt TV fans who have never experienced the thrill of a major antiques fair can put that right later this month in Harrogate.
It is the latest event from Galloway Antiques Fairs – specialists in organising quality antiques and fine art fairs in some of the country's finest stately homes.
Richard & Susan Galloway started out almost 30 years ago and have used some fantastic venues including Scone Palace, Duncombe Park, Arley hall and Holker Hall.
But it doesn’t get any more elegant than the Majestic.
And today they gave fair warning – the phrase used by many auctioneers just before the hammer falls – to remind fans that their next show is being held there.
Built at the height of Harrogate’s prosperity in the 19th century, it is a palatial and stately Victorian property, set in eight acres of private gardens in the heart of the spa town.
It has recently undergone a £20 million refurbishment program.
The Galloway fair will occupy The Ballroom, Drawing Room and Reading Room on the ground floor offering easy access for loading and boasts car parking for around 200 cars.
All Galloway fairs open 10.30am to 5pm daily, with a 4.30pm finish Sunday only.
Admission prices range from £5 to £6 while children under 16 get free entry.
"We have a great bunch of dealers travelling form all over England and Scotland to join us, “ said Susan.
"We will have a fabulous selection of stock for sale to include town and country furniture, silver, porcelain and pottery, antique and vintage jewellery, glass, watches, antiquarian maps and prints, oriental rugs, and many decorative items to furnish any home with style and individuality.”
