Owner Philippe Dartiailh took over the business almost two years ago and was in the middle of a full refurbishment when pubs were ordered to close their doors in March - meaning many weddings and special events were cancelled.

But the pub, which also boasts accommodation, was finally able to open once again over the weekend, with Claire's help.

Philippe, who previously previously ran restaurants in France, South Africa and was also in charge of the Crab & Lobster at Azenby, near York, said: "Whilst we were unable to stay open during lockdown, we needed to remain focused on the business and what it would need to look like when we could finally welcome our regulars back.

"We have added a new Dales View Bar in the conservatory area at the rear of the pub to enable easy access for people to get drinks from the extensive outside areas. We have invested in gazebos and a marquee to enable well-spaced and covered areas outside, which are ideal for families so their children can still play and run around safely. Inside the pub we have added screens and implemented a rigorous cleaning schedule, so all our customers and people who stay overnight have complete peace of mind."

"My plan has always been to extend the menu provided, which always uses locally sourced produce. We also want our food to be as authentic as possible, so I have sourced a wood fired clay pizza oven from France, which has been installed this week and will be up and running shortly. We are aiming to not only provide the high standards we did before lockdown, but an extended menu and greater choice."

Philippe has thanked Claire for her support during the reopening.

He added: "It was brilliant when our doors opened on Saturday, and we can’t thank Claire King enough for her support. Welcoming families and locals back to the Inn is what keeps the place alive, and we look forward to welcoming many more over the coming weeks."
