THE Big T, the variety talent competition which raised funds for Harrogate Theatre’s refurbishment appeal in September 2010, was so successful that a similar talent extravaganza is being organised again, with the Grand Final taking place at Harrogate Theatre on March 3.
Anne Cherry, the Fundraising Committee chair said she was looking forward to building on last year’s exciting event.
“The auditorium was packed to the rafters. The noise from the audience at the end of each act was deafening and this made for a great atmosphere for the performers.”
The Big T is open to everyone in Harrogate and District.
Organsiers say that if you have a talent, be it singing, dancing, juggling, magic, comedy, circus skills, music, poetry. . . anything at all that will entertain an audience, then this is for you.
There is no upper age limit, but all entrants must be over the age of 10 years on March 3, 2012.
Already, applications to audition have been received and include musical theatre acts, singers, dancers, rock bands, karate, and even a strong man act!
Last year over 70 acts were auditioned and this year the organisers are hoping for even more.
Auditions will be held in February, and 12 acts will be selected to go through to the Grand Final.
What makes The Big T particularly special is the voting, which is carried out live on the night by the entire audience and the celebrity judges.
The first round of voting reveals the top three who will then perform again. This is followed by a second vote, which is counted and verified.
Finally, after much speculation and excitement, prizes are awarded and an overall winner is announced – The Big T 2012.
