Play your part in Harrogate Theatre’s Le Tour spectacular

The Grand Voyage.
The Grand Voyage.

Brand new Il Pixel Rosso creation, Le Grand Voyage, co-produced by Harrogate Theatre for the Yorkshire Festival 2014, is looking for a supporting cast for the all-important film component of this Le Tour project.

Il Pixel Rosso is an innovative international theatre company specialising in a melding of ‘autoteatro’ (in which audience members perform the piece themselves) and film.

The Grand Voyage, which will be presented at Harrogate Theatre on June 6-7 promises to be like the Tour de France meets Wacky Races via the opening credits of Police Squad!

Participants follow recorded instructions and watch the narrative unfold literally before their very eyes on a specially produced film – and it’s that film that needs your help to get people involved and onscreen

Video goggles and headphones mean the participant becomes the star of their own Tour de France as they follow film and audio instruction to be plunged into the race.

Though they start out on the right track, a wrong turn takes them on a fantastic voyage.

Harrogate Theatre is excited to be creating this special production for the inaugural Yorkshire Festival, a 100-day arts and culture celebration ahead of the Tour de France’s arrival in Yorkshire.

The production’s core component is an incredible film that participants watch on video goggles.

From May 7-9, the team will be visiting some of Yorkshire’s most breathtaking locations to produce the film section of this project but they need a whole host of enthusiastic people to come and be part of it. No previous experience of performing is necessary, there’s no script to learn, no age restrictions.

The theatre is simply looking for a willingness to take part in this unique production. They are also welcoming people with unusual skills/hobbies – perhaps riding a unicycle, breathing fire, owning a pet elephant...

The whole things is expected to be a fun experience working with an international theatre company and starring in a film that will last forever in celebration of the extraordinary Le Grand Depart.

All that is required a commitment of just half a day on either May 7, 8 or 9.
