Popular Sitting Room Comedy Club kicks off another season of laughs next Wednesday, January 8 with a show in Harrogate headlined by Romesh Ranganathan, fresh from his recent appearance on Live at the Apollo.

Promoter Tom Taylor said: “Romesh is the new superstar on the block. I saw his first solo hour this August and it was brilliant, no surprises he was nominated for the Foster’s Best Newcomer award.

“A few other people were taking note as well as, in no time at all, he has racked up appearances on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Russell Howard’s Good News, Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live 2013 and secured a regular slot on Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week. I’m thrilled he’s agreed to come along to Harrogate in amongst his many filming commitments.”

The remaining two acts on the bill at St George Hotel in Harrogate at 8pm next Wednesday are no slouches in the comedy stakes, either.

Liam Mullone has been commended by The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Mail and Chortle, and has also collaborated with Sitting Room favourite, Arthur Smith, on The Arthur Smith Lectures for BBC Radio 4.

Last but not least, Sitting Room is also looking forward to welcoming Noel James.

Phil Ellis returns as MC, one of Sitting Room’s four resident comperes for 2014, sharing hosting duties with Scott Bennett, Aisling Bea and Tom Taylor himself.

Tickets for next week’s show are available from or the St George Hotel reception.
