A PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition has raised more than £10,000 for a Harrogate charity.

The travel-themed Places exhibition, by local photographer Javam Liam, ran at the Rudding Park Hotel in May, raising money for the PPR Foundation Brain Tumour Research Project.

Set up by Pamela Roberts following the death of her husband, Peter, the charity is committed to raising £1m by 2015.

“We are overwhelmed at the level of attendance, and the generous donations received,” she said. “Javan and the event sponsors worked relentlessly to put together such a marvellous exhibition.”

More than 300 people attended the event, including the deputy Mayor of Harrogate, Coun Pat Jones and local businessmen and women.

Sponsors included Societe Generale private banking, Hambros, JCT600 Leodis Court, Living North and SO PR.

The Places exhibition will also be running at the Great Yorkshire Show, from July 12-14.
