Organiser John Fox said: "I wish to thank all those companies, organisations and individuals who have supported the Harrogate and District Volunteering Oscars over the past years by sponsorship, providing services or physical help at the awards. Thank you, we could not have done it without you.

"We shall return and I hope that you will resume your help and support for these important awards, although personally I feel that the main aim of the evening is getting lots of volunteers together from across the district for a drink and a ‘thank you’ from the dignitaries and business leaders in our community."

A date has now been set for next year's Volunteering Oscars - Friday, October 29, 2021.

And a new, virtual celebration is set to go ahead in its absence this year.

Harrogate and District Community Action (HADCA) is holding its annual general meeting on Thursday, October 15 at 11am via Zoom and will feature a presentation at the end to thank the volunteers for all of their hard work.

John added: "The presentation will feature some of the volunteers across our district who have made a real difference this year. As well as people giving time as part of the local community emergency response to Covid-19, we would also like to acknowledge volunteers in other organisations who were very active up to March, but who have had to take a pause from volunteering these last few months, or who have been supporting charities in different ways.

"Please participate in this special event to thank our volunteers who make our community an amazing place. Please encourage any local charity, voluntary sector organisation or volunteer to participate.

"Once again, can I thank you for all your past help and support. Please stay safe, I look forward to us all meeting up again next year for a lovely evening to celebrate volunteering across our community."
