Local soul and blues piano-based singer-songwriter Dan Burnett is releasing his debut album in true independent style.

The rootsy musician, who’s been a common sight at all sorts of gigs in all sorts of places in the Harrogate area in the past few years says the album will be called Storyville.

Dan, who is also building a reputation far beyond this district, says it will be a collection of original acts firmly planted in his favoured soul and blues genre, some of whom he’s shared stage with in the past.

Influenced by the likes of legends such as Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Donny Hathaway, Dan has always been keen to forge his own sound.

Storyville will include a few of Burnett’s own ‘standards’ – You’re Gonna Shine and Come and Get It.

The album is being made available not through a record company, an increasingly unobtainable and irrelevant route for most musicians these days, but through PledgeMusic.

It’s one of the country’s most popular direct-to-fan ‘platforms’ for independent musicians these days.
