THEY said it couldn’t be done - but the Fringe Crawl Day is back tomorrow, Saturday for a second year to top off Harrogate International Festival Fringe.

Headlined at Harrogate Theatre by maverick pop legend Julian Cope in his first-ever visit to Harrogate in a 30-year career, the all-day extravaganza features five venues and more than 40 live acts from Harrogate, Leeds and, this year, Kingston upon Thames.

From exciting rock monsters Tubelord (said KuT band) at Monteys Rock Café, to Leeds singer-songwriter Ryan Spendlove at Harrogate Theatre Circle Bar, new Harrogate rock band Silvertone (ex-Blaze Camero) at the Blues Bar, bags of acoustic sounds at Harlow Gata courtesy of Ghostown Soldier and wall to wall live punk and DJ Trev at Rehab, the day has something for everyone.

Even Harrogate Festival proper is getting in on the act with a show by highly-rated acoustic act Ellen & The Escapades in the Spiegel tent at Crescent Gardens at 8pm.

The action continues into the wee small hours with Elextricity v’s Bottom of the Bottle at Rehab at midnight.

For the full line-up, check the Festival Fringe website. What follows is a brief guide to stages and times.

Afternoon

Blues Bar: Graham Parry, Silvertone and more.

Rehab: North Yorkshire Hardcore presents live punk from 1pm to 11.30pm. Headlined by Play With Fire, other acts include We The Drowned, Dogfight, Bastad Rats! And Croak Ditch.

Evening

Monteys Rock Café: Live rock music from 7pm with two top local bands Oceans (acoustic set) and Idle Maestro plus two esteemed visitors. Headliners Tubelord are a powerful energetic four-piece whose Biffy Clyro-esque debut album got good reviews in the likes of the NME.

Sketches are a former Steve Lamacq unsigned band of the week on 6 Music, their groove-ridden, epic indie-rock winning them support from the likes of Drowned in Sound.

Blues Bar: Live music continues until midnight.

Rehab: Live music continues until midnight when rock king DJ Trev takes over.

Harlow Gata: Acoustic sounds from 6pm from Sam Collier, Dick Turner, Ridley Barbet, Ghostown Soldier, Simon Wiffen and Aaron Bertenshaw.
