Masham celebrates the centenary of its town hall in real style over the bank holiday with an amazing weekend of live music.

Featured are folk legends Fairport Convention plus top local musicians The Conspirators who have done so much to built North Yorkshire’s reputation in recent years.

Tomorrow, Friday sees Fairport Convention returning to the town hall, while Saturday sees The Conspirators headlining the the main Centenary Party, which also includes cabaret performances and hot food.

Though different in age and style, there is a link between these two acts - and both have strong associations with Masham and the Town Hall.

The Conspirators played their album launch party there and the two bands have also worked with each other.

In 2008 The Conspirators collaborated with original Fairport singer Judy Dyble and released the Fairport classic One Sure Thing as a single on CD and vinyl, which ultimately reached number seven in the UK indie charts.

In addition John Gillies, Conspirators lead guitarist and songwriter, recently wrote a song with Judy Dyble, which featured a recording performance from Ian Macdonald, who was also a member of Fairport Convention’s original line-up.

Tickets for both events are available from Masham Community Office.
