Harrogate’s Deanery Players are returning to one of their most popular hits for their next production.

The group first presented this favourite children’s entertainment at the Royal Hall back in 1982 and then repeated their success at Harrogate Theatre in 2002.

The latest production, which runs at Harrogate Theatre from February 6-8, features all the songs from the original score are included in this unforgettable musical show.

Based on the famous Hollywood musical version of Frank Baum’s original story which was originally filmed in 1938, The Wizard of Oz tells the adventures of young Dorothy Gale when she is blown away by a tornado to the Land of Oz.

On the way, she shares her adventures with a singing and dancing Scarecrow, who does not have a brain; a Tin Man who has nearly rusted away in a bush, who does not have a heart; and a Lion, who would like to be King of the Forest, but has no courage.

They all journey to find the Wizard of Oz who they hope will use his magic powers to give them their heart’s desires.

But can they overcome the Wicked Witch, the evil Jitterbugs and an army of skeletons to ensurea a happy ending?
