Yes, you’ve guessed - it’s panto time with Tadcaster Theatre Company ready to perform Sleeping Beauty and the Broken Bridge November 22-26 at the Riley-Smith Hall, Tadcaster.

The show has been given a twist to reflect the town’s real life ongoing pantomime since the bridge was washed away in the Boxing Day floods.

There’s an air of jubilation in the Town and cause for celebration as a Royal Princess has been born.

Muddles the Palace Handyman (“not the sharpest tool in the box!”) finds a nursemaid for the Princess in the shape of Nurse Dottie Dettol, otherwise known as the town school mistress.

Fairy Lilac is chosen as the Princess’s godmother and all the fairies will then bestow a blessing on the child.

The King and Queen entrust the delivering of the Royal invitations to Fetch and Carrie (The Palace Messengers). Fairy Lilac decides that the Bad Witch should receive an invitation to stop her from being rubbed up the wrong way, but all goes horribly wrong when she doesn’t receive it – oh yes it does!

Enter Bad Witch Hazel who bestows her own gift on the Princess – the gift of Death on her 16th birthday - and casts her evil spell on the Wharfe bridge to have it washed away forever.

Wind the clock on 12 years and Princess Rose is now at school.
