Ripon likes to be beside the seaside

Ripon will once again be by the sea-side from Saturday, September 3.

The event, which proved a popular attraction to residents and visitors is back in the Spa Gardens.

Entry and parking are free and the beach opens at 11am until 4.30pm.

As well as making sandcastles there will be plenty to occupy visitors to Ripon’s temporary seashore.

The National Festival Circus will be in town performing in the big top. Tickets are needed and can be bought at Knowledge Magnet, the Tourist Information Centre and Hay’s Travel.

The Pirate Puppeteers will be putting on a family show with lots of audience participation and what could be more traditional than Punch and Judy who will perform at 11.30am and 1.30pm and available throughout the day will be donkey rides.

Providing the music will be Ripon City Band while face painting will be available from noon to 2.30pm and a fun fair with rides available from 11am to 4pm.

The Knowledge Magnet is sponsoring the sand castle building competition so take along your bucket and spade to take part.

Refreshments will be available all day including seaside treats such as ice-cream, candy floss and special Ripon Rock.

The event is organised by Ripon Festival.
