“After that convincing performance of the Brahms second piano concerto at the Leeds, we invited her to play at our closing concert of the season,” said Roger Higson, chairman of the Cathedral Concert Society. “Her programme from Scarlatti to Brahms via Mozart and Schumann is sure to give us an insight into why she has been winning so many piano competitions. We are delighted that Adam Gatehouse, who with Paul Lewis is one of the two new artistic directors of the Leeds Competition, will be present to tell us about plans they have for taking it forward.”

Anna, 26, talked about herself and her love of the piano: her mother, who had graduated from the College of Music was her inspiration and taught her from the age of six. When she was 10 she prepared for her first serious competition in Moscow, 400 miles from home. She has no favourite composers – she says that the works which she loves with all her heart she plays well. She won the International Gilels competition in Odessa and the Hamamatsu competition in Japan in 2012.
