Now firmly part of the town’s festival calendar, the concert will see nearly 500 performers perform a programme of modern and traditional Christmas music – including a festive song from Spain.

The children will be singing songs including It’s a Magical Time of the Year, Torches and The Best Christmas of All as well as joining the orchestra for a performance of the popular – and now legendary - Reindeer on the Roof.

They will be joined by the Harrogate Choral Society in pieces such as Three Kings, Jingle Bells and a whole host of other traditional songs. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to join in with some of the songs and carols.

Musical director for Harrogate Symphony Orchestra Bryan Western said: “We always look forward to this traditional highlight of the year as it’s a wonderful Christmas atmosphere for this concert and having so many children singing with an orchestra is very special.

“To see their faces light up when they enter the impressive Harrogate International Centre auditorium and see the welcoming large audience in front of them, is heart-warming: and this is before they hear the awe inspiring sounds that come from a full symphonic orchestra and more than 100 adult singers”.
